Emin Alper

Director & screenwriter / Türkiye

Emin Alper was born on 13 August 1974 in Ermenek, Karaman. Trained in economics and history at Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, he holds a PhD in Turkish Modern History.
His feature films have premiered consistently at the world’s leading festivals. His debut, Beyond the Hill (2012), premiered at the Berlinale Forum, winning the Caligari Film Prize and a Special Mention for Best First Feature. Frenzy (2015) premiered in Official Competition at the Venice Film Festival, where it won the Special Jury Prize. A Tale of Three Sisters (2019) competed at the Berlinale, and Burning Days (2022) premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes, going on to win numerous awards internationally. His most recent feature, Salvation (2026), premiered in Official Competition at the Berlinale, where it won the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize.
Alongside his filmmaking career, Alper taught modern history in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Istanbul Technical University, and currently serves as the artistic director of Sinematek (Cinémathèque) in İstanbul.

Aleksandra Markovic

Documentary filmmaker, editor & lecturer / Croatia / United Kingdom

Aleksandra Markovic is a Croatian-born documentary filmmaker, editor and film lecturer based in the UK. Before moving to the UK, she spent more than a decade working for major Croatian broadcasters as a producer, director and edit producer, specialising in documentary and non-scripted television.

She holds an MA in Documentary Film from Queen Mary University of London and currently teaches documentary filmmaking and post-production at SAE Institute London. Her films have screened and received recognition at international film festivals, with recent works including Inanimate Objects (2024) and Between Her Ropes (2026).

Alongside her filmmaking and teaching, Aleksandra regularly serves on international film festival juries. She has been a juror for the International Documentary Association (IDA) Documentary Awards, the Fajr International Film Festival in Iran and the Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh. Her work is particularly interested in character-driven documentary storytelling, women’s experiences, identity, migration and social issues.

Goce Cvetanovski

Director, screenwriter & producer / North Macedonia

Goce Cvetanovski is a filmmaker and animation director best known for John Vardar vs. the Galaxy, the first Macedonian feature-length animated film. The sci-fi comedy marked a historic milestone in the country’s cinema, premiering at the prestigious Sitges Film Festival and securing wide international distribution. It was also selected by leading festivals, including Mostra do São Paulo, BAFICI, and Cartoons on the Bay.
