KINENOVA 2017 AWARDS
The main jury of the second edition of the International Film Festival Kinenova Skopje 2017 (October 6-11) – Goran Markovic (Serbia) president, Hulya Ucansu (Turkey), Sinolicka Trpkova (Macedonia), Igor Galo (Croatia) – would like to presents its acknowledgements to the Directorate of the Festival for the qualified selection of films coming from young cineastes with their first or second films from all over the world.
The jury decided to give the Prize for the BEST FILM to the Venezuelan movie “La familia” by Gustavo Rondon Cordova for his extraordinary talent in presenting us a story of survival in a very brutal and violent world which is valid both for the protagonists of the film together for the society of his country.
The jury decided to award the Bosnian film “Men Don`t Cry” by Alen Drljevic with the award BEST DIRECTOR for his mature directing dealing with the most delicate, historical and psychological situation of a team of protagonists giving us simultaneously the feeling of optimism and hope with its ending.
The jury decided to award the Israeli film “One Week and a Day” by Asaf Polonsky with the BEST SCRIPT AWARD for his skillful dealing with a very dedicate, sad and humane situation in a tragi – comic format.
The jury decided to give a SPECIAL MENTION to the American film “Tower” by Keith Maitland for its using a very fresh and experimental form, successfully combining animation, documentary and feature through which he presents us a very dramatic subject.
The jury of the Shorts Competition – Christos Karakepelis (Greece), president, Catherine Habib (France), Maria Dzidzeva (Macedonia) – would like to note that the program of the films we watched, for the most part, was excellent, consisted of student films, but mainly first films of new directors, who from this festival start their career and promise a bright future. Different aesthetic choices and styles. The final choice is particularly demanding.
That is why we propose, besides the committee’s prize, a special mention.
The first prize of the International short competition will be shared by two films, with different aesthetics, but they represent a modern true cinema.
